Abby’s Heroes is a Southampton based charity that supports families when their child, teenager or young adult has been diagnosed with cancer and treated at UHS Southampton General Hospital. They offer families financial grants, practical support and memory making grants. They do everything from delivering food and meals to employing Family Support Workers who work on the Piam Brown Ward. 

Abby's Heroes also fund Counselling sessions for the entire family unit, Welfare packs with vouchers to the outlets at the hospital including car park passes for 2 weeks and a grant when children complete their treatment and ‘Ring the Bell’. 

In March they  will be able to offer children and their siblings, Play Therapy at an offsite venue in Southampton. Therapists are trained to use play, art, music, character play etc as a way of letting the children share their fears and anxieties, that children may not have the vocabulary to express normally. They  are incredibly proud of being able to offer children this new service and as we continue to grow, we look to find new ways to support families when facing a cancer diagnosis with their children.’
